We create custom silicone molds for very different purposes for our customers. If you need a silicone mold, you've come to the right place!
In this blog article we explain what information we need for a successful implementation of your idea.
In order for us to realize your idea, we need a specific description of your idea - and a few essential pieces of information:
1. Shape/Dimension
What shape and dimensions do you envision?
Is it a rectangular model or something round?
How big do you want the models to be? The height is also important here.
Are there other boundary conditions? For example, does the shape have to have a certain external dimension in order to be placed in a machine or to fit into a frame?
2. Is a model available?
Optimally, you should first provide us with a 3D model of your desired shape in STEP format.
If this is not possible, detailed drawings and sketches - in which all dimensions and boundary conditions can be seen - often also help, so that we can take care of the creation of the 3D model.
If you want to place your logo on the mold, you have to provide as a vector file of your logo.
It is important to note that the resolution of such logos is limited. As a rule of thumb, details can only be displayed down to a size of 0.5-1mm. However, we will discuss this with you individually.
3. How many molds do you need?
How many molds do you need in total?
Should several models be placed next to each other in one tray?
In order to get clarity here, you can think about how many casts you would like to make at the same time later. Such information is very important, as it allows us to consider the best possible and most cost-effective combination of mold size and number for you.
4. Which materials will be processed?
The question of which materials you would like to process with the molds is very important, otherwise we will not be able to pick out the right silicone for your application.
For example, if you want to produce chocolate with your molds, you need a silicone that is approved for food.
If, on the other hand, you need molds for epoxy resins, it is important to choose a silicone that can withstand the chemical stresses of such resins.
If you have any ideas about the hardness of the desired silicone, this should also be mentioned at this point. However, if you lack experience in this area, we will be happy to guide you to the appropriate material.
The hardness of silicones is usually measured in the Shore A scale.
What happens next?
Once we have received all the information from you, you will receive a non-binding offer from us as soon as possible. This usually includes a 3D model of your mold designed by us, which we will provide you as a 3D PDF to get a first impression.
If you are satisfied with the design, we can start the order and, if necessary, produce a free test mold in advance for larger orders.
